Great rvieew! It's odd, but coming into this book I had read Lolita, Gatsby, and Austen, but not James, and yet I had a hard time connecting in the first section that focused on Lolita. The section on James actually made me want to read him, for some reason.I definitely also had a problem with the way Nafisi tells her story, and I kind of wish she'd focused more on the book club those were definitely the most interesting parts for me!

Although they added fresh strawberries, lime and st. germain the mixers weren't overwhelming at all and the majority of the drink itself was the mix of agave and blanco tequila. It's clear in today's society that the Lolita mythos is perpetuated by people who haven't actually read the novel. Any who have (unless they are nodding along with the pedophilic Humbert and need to be locked up or something) can understand the true horror that is occurring over the course of years. Nabokov was very daring, at the time, to tell the story from the viewpoint of the criminal. Now, we have many examples of such stories when it comes to serial murders and the like (I love the show Dexter, myself), but none told from the viewpoint of a pedophile come to mind. I guess such work is less palatable, since it involves the all-too-frequent abuse of children, rather than the infrequent (and therefore more distant?) actions of serial killers.How is it that we can read or watch Silence of the Lambs or shows like Dexter, and identify somewhat with a serial killer? Because the author has taken pains to make sure the victims are somehow deserving , if only by being horrible people we don't like. You can't do that with a pedophile, because no rational person would think a child somehow deserves to be raped.I think the true genius of Nabokov is not merely that he allows this sickening and far too realistic glimpse into the disturbed mind, but that he shows the way such abuse and trauma can change a victimized child. Her desperation was palpable in the tiny ways she found to manipulate Humbert with his sickness. The ways she found to survive her ordeal resonate very realistically. Case after case of long-term sexual abuse shows that children will eventually learn to get small things from cooperating; since there is no way they can see to escape the situation, they seek to lessen it's anguish by turning it into a tool.It is disgusting to me that these survival techniques that abused children are forced to learn from their abusers are now, in our modern and enlightened society, labeled seduction and appealing . It is obvious that the sick individuals that prey on children will always blame their victim- the 2 year old seduced me argument from the 72-year old abuser comes to mind- but it is another thing entirely for the rest of us to accept these sick rationalizations.So to people like Marc Jacobs, and those who chuckle indulgently at the dirty old men that ogle 7th grade girls, and any other person who thinks of a child in terms of their sexuality- YOU ARE WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS SICK, TWISTED SOCIETY.

What I saw was a little girl being abused who did anything she could to survive, even consenting to the abuse at times in order to gain something, anything, from the situation she was in. Your analysis of the whole point of the story being about imbuing adult traits in forms that shouldn't posses (sic) them is obviously divergent from almost every other person on this board. Your conclusion that she consumed his soul is my clue that you feel the Lolita character WAS in control and somehow Humbert was helpless to resist her. You talk about the use of literature to present a fiction of the temptress child as if it was a device used by Nabokov to shock us. And yet, you seem to take that in stride. No shock for you, you just have this great insight into why he would use that device. And yet you didn't try to interpret you just experience them for what they were . It seems to me that YOU didn't read the novel very well either. Maybe you can get a job as Marc Jacobs' assistant. You'd fit in well, I'm sure.

Abusers are people who are damaged and unable/unwilling to control and take responsibility for their own actions. I am crnerutly spending more than 20$ per year in order to keep our local Mozilla community domain alive, and we also spend some money on the website hosting in addition to the domain registration and our time to manage the site and its content. We also take part in other Mozilla activities such as being the voice of Mozilla in our countries and We are Mozillians and part of the global Mozilla community even that we are not paying that tax. I don't understand why we have to pay that bill, and hope it will fade away from people who already prove their activities and loyalty to mozilla.org or willing to do that in the future.
Hey Bogo (and all):I can ttaloly understand your reaction hopefully it's at least in part because I've poorly explained the idea. I just posted this update on my blog, which aims to clarify: We're still in the early stages of defining the membership program. There are many decisions yet to be made about how we describe it and how it works. Eg. what should we call people who sign up? Comments below suggest it should be something other than Mozillian'. There is one certainty however: this progream it is not a replacement for the awesome community of 50,000 Mozillians who make, localize and promote Firefox everyday. These people are the life blood of what we do and will never be asked for money in order to belong to Mozilla. They are already giving something much more valuable. The Join Mozilla' program is for people who are not and may never be ready to contribute at this level. It could be there are other reasons to object to doing a membership program. Very open to discussing those. However, the idea that community members need to pay to belong was never on the table that would be crazy in my mind. The Mozillians who give their time are already at a much higher level of belonging that anyone who would sign up just for the Join Us' program. As you say, people contribute time are Mozilla'.On the flip side, I believe we need a way to let millions more people express their support for our cause. And, over time, to make it easy for some smaller group of these people to contribute time (100s of thousands?). It's hard to do that without some kind of connection and channel reach out to them. Membership programs with symbolic donation amounts have proven to help other organizations do this in the past (e.g. the 25 cents I used to pay each week to be a Boy Scout).

Thanks for this Bogo. Helpful. I agree of csoure that we want members who will become active advocates (soon) and active contributors (over time). One thesis I have is that huge numbers of people are willing to sign up for the role of spreading the word about Mozilla and the web. It's something that is fun and that people will be excited to do. Also, I think we can get people to this advocate role quite quickly if we are well organized.The group of people who give time will always be a bit smaller, and it will take longer for them to be comfortable getting involved at this level. We need to get good at providing step by step pathways for them to get involved. And even better at managing and organzing across many small projects within Mozilla. That said, I think we can grow our contributor community massively over time as a second order effect from membership and advocacy work.What do you think about this? PS. I might throw this comment up as a quick blog post.

- No paste and go, yes this helps me imlsneemy from staying away from keyboard most of the time.- No built-in note, not even with add-on, I mean a decent one.- No built-in mouse gesture, we shouldn't need an add-on for this.- Wasteful estate of default UI, using add-on to make this light actually adding startup time for me, ironically.- No download manager, impossible to resume.That's all above shouldn't be achieved using add-on and risk getting bloated with memory leak and startup time. And yes I mainly use Opera but sometimes play around with FF and certain add-on on certain site.
From a Mozilla dlveeoper perspective, what really sucks is the Mozilla Developer Center:After the switch from MediaWiki do DekiWiki the site is nearly unusable. We were told, that all the glitches will be gone soon, but I hear that for now nearly 1.5 years and you still are not able to use it in any comfortable way.Examples:-why are the search results on MDC displayed so badly that I have to click and scroll and read for hours until I find what I'm looking for?!-why do I see Chinese(sic!) results in my search results?!-why do I have to learn a yet new syntax to edit articles in MDC?!-and so on. The only one of the suite which I use is fioferx (or rather, iceweasel). My main gripe is it is slow and memory hungry. Fix that and I'll be much happier.
Old bugs do NOT get fixed! There are ~ 1200 bugs that are meakrd as New that have not been touched in over FIVE years. Why should a person bother filing a bug when there is a strong probability NOTHING will get done to fix it. There needs to be a bug fix release of Firefox that ONLY fixes old bugs. A bug meakrd as New is a real bug and should be fixed. As bugs age there priority should increase. New features are great, but old features need to be improved as well.
I do not like FF slpimy because its help system is very user-unfriendly.I love its F12 feature which is way better then any other browser can offer (and this is being said by an Opera fan)Ok to make a long sory short I just downloaded v4 which is about a month old to the date. At startup it asked me if I want to import all my bookmarks from Opera. Yay! I thought.However the process was not a straight line it offered me about 5 or 7 different Operas ( ProgramFiles Opera , OperaBookmarks , OperaWhatever )So I just chose the one that said Opera . Then FF showed me a message, something like: Congratulations you successfully imported: _blank_ Nothing was imported.Ok, I thought I just need to import it from another Opera option Click on the main menu nothing about importing there.I go to the help center, type my problem, it immidiatelly finds an answer.And guess what the answer is: You can easily import all your stuff from other browsers just click on the Import' option in the main menu Very nice, thank you PSWho designed this textbox? Its background replicates the typing-cursor color, very difficult to navigate.
Firefox grew too large, too slow and too ctlomicaped. Safari and Chrome are much superior for people who just want a browser, not a load of plugins and advanced (but often useless in practice) features.If you like working on advanced features, follow Chrome team. They work on DNS pre-fetching and multiprocess architecture while Mozilla lags behind (those happened to be in works for some Firefox 3.7, but Chrome had it many months ago).UI is a complete mess, and plugins add substantially to that. UI themes for 4.0 are a step in the right direction, but when it is going to be released? Late 2010? Again, Mozilla lags behind.In general, Firefox become new Internet Explorer in a way that in it's quest for being totally mainstream, it rendered itself slow, bloated and lost it's innovation edge.
The bsieggt problem with Mozilla is that most work seems half-finished.Example:1) Tracemonkey: looks good, but looks stalled2) ACID3: most work done, but SVG:fonts look stalled3) About:tabs, ctrl-tab UI look promising, but stalled.Lot of communication on the beginning of the projects (TM, UI-related), but when they are near completion, no more blogging.What are the current steps for TM (new conservative GC, PIC) and what the expected gain?What about SVG:Fonts?What About:tabs, ctrl-tab, ?It would be good to have a quaterly feedback from each team, in a blog way (analysis of what has been done, of the current situation and the next step).
1) Too many deeolvpers always away going to some stupid conference.2) Too many deeolvpers live in too many different times zones and it take days to have a conversation.2) Too many crappy bug reports that the deeolvpers have to spend too much time decoding and probing users for more details.3) Related to #2, too many users using bugzilla as a support forum.
For the aevrage person Mozilla Firefox or any other application sucks simply because it is not what they are used to. Just today I was at a local computer store and overheard a woman wanting to exchange a new Macintosh for a Windows PC. She told the sales person she needed a Windows computer and used Dell previously, but followed that by saying she only used it for browsing the web and writing documents in MS-Office. Chances are the Mac could have done everything she wanted, but she obviously did not have the time or desire to learn something different. Giving her a Mac would be equivalent to giving her the Chinese language version of Windows. (and since this site seems to encourage multiple languages, I should point out that here in the US people generally only know English and are offended at the suggestion they should learn anything else)Unfortunately there is no real solution to that. At best, one could turn whatever product in to a clone of what someone is used to but then you make users who are used to the old product unhappy. Were you looking for specific technical aspects that suck to address?
1. Development seems to not give a poop about the Acid 3 test.2. Even touhgh it is ahead of Webkit in many ways.. it appears Webkit is being developed at a faster pace3. I don't experience any speed issues (rendering or app start), it rarely to never crashes and when it has, it has been due to website issues, not Firefox ones. The memory issue never bothered or greatly affected me either. I run my primary profile pretty hard and on average have 85 extensions enabled.If there was a better browser, I'd be using it. It's that simple.Thunderbird:I've been a loyal user and supporter since 1.0 but not being able to easily create an account manually myself and avoid the account setup wizard has kept me from migrating to 3.0. All of the new features are great, but they are useless without me being able to directly setup my (Google Apps) mail accounts without hurdles. Thunderbird also really needs to catch up on integrating social networking activities. Perhaps I just need to learn more about the future of Thunderbird to see if the plans are to just keep it a dedicated email/news client and not a major communications tool/platform. I know that communications are what Mozilla Messaging is all about, but I see Thunderbird lagging. As long as it took to get 3.0 released (and I understand why), we could have gotten a default calendar feature or at least had Lightning ready to go when 3.0 was released. RSS in Thunderbird is no joy either.I love Thunderbird just about as much as Firefox and use it as often, so I'm a bit disappointed right now. It just doesn't feel the same as a few years ago.I suppose that it all started when SFx went from more of a place where fans and users would come together to discuss and celebrate Firefox and Mozilla and to collaborate on ideas and goals to spread the word to more of a place where finished projects are promoted.The focus was taken away from individuals and conversations.A lot of it has to do with how Mozilla has grown and spread out and how it has had to become, and stay more competitive than just a few years ago and there's nothing wrong with that, it just doesn't feel like the tight-knit family that it used to.This happens with all families that grow and expand, but I'd like to see us pull together closer again.

The bggiest problem with FF is that it has become humongous in terms of system resources (disk & ram & cpu) for what it does. Leaving it open with a couple of windows and several tabs in each window is enough to noticeably slow down anything else you run.FF suffers from a slow rendering engine anything on webkit is a lot faster and more responsive.FF suffers from the more features is good syndrome. more features is almost always A Bad Thing!This goes for many of the plugins for FF as well; too many of them that do essentially the same tasks, most are complete nonsense and an utter waste of time. If you want to program a plugin, for god's sake, try to be a bit more creative than make the gazillianth youtube download plugin FF suffers from too much input from programmers. 99.9999% of your users are not programmers and don't give a damn about many of the advanced features. and that percentage will only grow exponentially as the user-base grows.To understand what is wrong with FF, take a close look at Safari and Chrome. IMHO Google got the spartan in features, but lean, fast, stable and does what i need to do without a fuss almost perfectly right.
Firefox- It is slow and ircnsuee, it is relient on plug-ins and extensions which in turn slow the browser down (I know, Firefox can get slower?!) and make it unstable. Very buggy also. Bad SVG support and other standards. Firefox will only show new toys off first but it lacks many good ol standards. No time is taken to fix bugs, 99% of hte focus is towards the next version. Why not a few months of just bug fixes? Tell me, how can a browser be so great if it isn't safe, fast, and not bug infested? The only way people can get the features they want is by degrading their browser with extensions. Gecko sucks in general. Mozilla- They claim their browser is an innovation but they never give credit to those that actually innovate. E.g. They never once mentioned Opera Link when they where talking about Weave. They also made people believe Firefox is the fastest various times. You're a corperation but you only show that you are a foundation to sound nice and not greedy. Who said the corp is greedy? Well the foundation pumps money into the corp. Also in an interview with Mitchell Baker she said Mozilla was started to gain the maximum revenue possible. You also try and sound like you are the coolest out there. Join Mozilla, You know you want to. Why settle for good when there's awesome? Firefox is my gripe.

Prefer to use Opera as my default browser.

I have hung auornd computers since I was a child and knew of Linux at an early age from my big brother and his friends. I have witnessed many tryouts and conducted 50 or 60 Linux Live Disk sessions on my own over the last 6 years. Each year I down a dozen or so Live ISO's and try them out on my laptops. I have developed a very efficient, ruthless and rapid manner of trying a Live distro out and it is based on the female perspective of absolutely no bashing. With absolutely no fiddling about, the distro's Live Disk must:1) nail the 1440 x 900 screen resolution, find my touch pad, keyboard and CD-Rom or its gone in 30 seconds.2) From there, it must find and nail the internet in both wifi and auto-etho modes with out any goofing about through some silly network manager that makes you jump through hoops. If it does the latter and not the former its gone by the 3 or 4 minute mark.3) It must nail the sound system when I feed it a file right off the bat, with no goofing about with drivers or Intel vs. Alsa vs. Pulse yada, yada, yada. I either hear sound when I feed it a ,wav .flac. ogg file etc, and ensure the volume is on and up, it had better sound good or its out of the tray at the 5 minute mark and flying.4) It must have a file manager that immediately seeks out, identifies, mounts and lets me read, write, download and save to each and every NTFS Partition and USB storage device during a live session. If I hit a root blockage or have to fstab something even once its a Live Frisbee by the 8 minute mark.My whole assessment takes as little as 1 minute to eliminate a distro and can run as long as 10 before I fling-mail it. Unfair??Nope. Because NETRUNNER PASSED THOSE TESTS with flying colors and I shut it off after 60 minutes with a grin on my face . You now own a new user who will stick with Netrunner as long as it may run and long may that be.You have realized that a Distro must have a Live CD that has everything working from a hardware perspective as well as instant read, write and save to every NTFS formatted device as there are few in this world who abandon Windows completely until they can find a simply perfect Linux that can run rings auornd, through, under and over it. That starts by opening all the security processes in the Live demo so the user can see its full potential in 20 minutes. After I loaded it for good on my hard drive, THAT IS WHEN I set up the security I WANT, not still trying to bypass the security forced on me by a Live CD maker who decides he knows what is best for me. You guys opened all the doors and let me see its full potential in minutes flat, trusting that I have enough good sense to setup the security I WANT TO HAVE later on.You won my loyalty to Netrunner with that simple open philosophy. I agree, the Opera bsweror for symbian is really nice but the problem is that the one provided with the nokia 6600 is a trial that expires after about 2 months and i think it's quite expensive to register it so i'm kind of disappointed that an open source project like mozilla don't provide a symbian bsweror

Usually they're more ticrky. Each link the Google's search results fires an onclick event which rewrites the href' into a tracking URL. That means that when you hover over the link, or copy it, you see one URL, but when you click it you go via a tracking URL.
I'm from Sweden and the Google Firefox page doesn't dsapliy oddly at all. It's in swedish though (impressive they localized all start page versions!) and looks great. Exactly as yours, but in swedish.
Agreed. I rellay don't care what browser people use, but what I can do with the engine is important. If people want to use Opera, great. If people want to use Firefox, great. I'd rather code to standards and let people use the browser of their choice.
Only dnidswoe I see on this is that if AOL really sees Firefox as the way to get rid of MS, it will almost surely add IE quirks support to avoid having millions of customers calling because their favorite web page is not displayed correctly as mentioned somewhere else.SO, if AOL is really into it, it can spread another non standards compliant browser, bearing the name of open source and Firefox as its code base. Good or bad? I say bad, but that's certainly a risk for any open source project and specially successful ones like Firefox.

Defrag is the ctrroany of the word fragment. So to defrag a hard drive, you're moving clusters of files into a single area of the hard drive. Defraggment is needed when new files saved to the hard drive (by internet, or by a program) the files are scattered throughout the hard drive. So obviously defragging the hard drive will make finding those files quicker. Windows has it's own default defragment program, but most others prefer alternatives.

Opera doesn't have the add-ons I need. Plus I use Opera Mini along with Dolphin HD on my aridond so I know Opera is excellent too =)
i don't rekcon it's meant to do that. if you want to download a youtube record to your computer, there are hundreds of services / programs that would do that. just use reliable ones and be careful of viruses and malware!

When qrniyueg google, the three little tabs at the top giving you options to request all parameters , save to file or append to file disappear when an image search result gets returned along with the normal semantic search results. These images get displayed at the top of the Google page, and the tabs are gone. One can still manually verify the parameters on each returned result, but bulk saving is unavailable. It works fine when Google doesn't decide to randomly include image results .any ideas?

I don't reockn that you can configure them but yes, that happens to me also..do not use ccleaner and additional similar softwares and do not open the cache folder while the videos and playing and caching take the cache folder only after playing the whole record

I have had every version of Firefox from 4.0 urhotgh 7.0 freeze my desktop for from 2 to 5 3/4 minutes progressively worse with each version. Downgrading to 3.6 solved the problem. IE7 is not compatible with a few key sites I use day to day for work. I have to use Firefox to make thigns work right. IE7 has been crashing on my computer for months, I've reinstalled several times and Firefox continues to run bug-free.
Long live FireFox! Although I have had a few quirks to work out bewteen Firefox and Vista, I still love it. And how cool that StatCounter has access to so much data and can tell us stuff like that. Sweet!
I just figured out a way to make its not pertty, but it worked for me. Photoshop boot time has gone from 60 seconds to about 3 seconds. IE7 & Firefox both work tons faster too.
Come on, be serious. I've tried both of those tools. Neither one mpeoarcs to Firebug. I want to change CSS on the fly, not just one attribute, but a whole class. I want to edit the live html. I want to profile. I want to debug js. I want to put in breakpoints and watch expressions. I want to see which script and which css line everything is on.Those other tools just don't have the power. (Say it like Scotty)
To lower the cache memory, just go to tools if you have menu bar orsetwihe click on firefox menu in the leftmost top position, then options, then advanced, then network, then edit the cache memory there, then click on ok button.. I hope this helps u!
I suspect that they have aoubgimusly phrased this and what they *may* have meant was that you should download the latest version of those that are compatible with your machine; not the latest version, which they are telling you is compatible. I had to get away from Agent because of their cintonued refusal to put in HTML email reading. It's a darn good newsreader, but well it's behind the times email wise. Outlook was out of the question for the same reason I abhor IE. A friend had hooked me on Firefox, but I'd never really looked into anything else made by Moz. Then I found Thunderbird and I've never looked back.

Glad you were able to solve your Firefox bookmarks/toolbar lprboem (without having to delete Profiles files and reinstall your Firefox..). When I had my lprboem, I ended up getting reattached to , because was sooo frustrating. As a rule, the version of IE shipped with the Windows release will continue to be supported under it's support lifecycle, no matter how obsolete it is, as do the latest version of IE available for it.
OVERWEIGHT? ahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahahahhahahOpera is way htlgier than . The wits 4.0 SUCKED so terrible on my ancient computer is because it was so overweight, Opera 10.60 is way lightweight which is why it is so much quicker. Also it is not insecure. AVG's real-time threat detection network makes it hella secure. The only terrible thing about opera is the lack of useful add ons.
They are not the same. In layman's terms, I osuppse you could say that plugins enhance or extend the functionality of the browser itself, and webapps are small separate programs that run on top of the browser. And it doesn't necessary have to cost money; that's up to the developer to decide. I expect many of them will come free of charge just like with Chrome.
I find that some servers odowlswn with many requests from many ports, especially if with many persistant connections. so first time fast next times progressivly slower. I don't think NatMans like it.

OuT: The change here does not stop pomgrars from copying files into the component directory. They shouldn't have been doing so (there are several well-defined mechanisms by which they can add their stuff that don't involve mucking with the installation directory of another product), but acknowledging that they do we simply don't load components that were not built with the product..xpt files are simply data structures describing interfaces, they are not executable code. If we don't load the associated components then those interfaces will not be used.
The translation tool seems great, two qitseuons beg to be asked though. How many languages does this plugin support, and how much resources will be used by this plugin? The more plugins I am installing onto Firefox the slower and more sluggish it seems to become. How can I check how much resources Firefox is using?
all that maneuvering that I did eearilr (see entry #9 above) I had that same experience version 3.6.2 certainly made a real mess. Not just disabled and missing add-ons. It *inserted* one add-on I had tried out long ago and uninstalled; this one would not let go! Couldn't close its sidebar or get rid of the add-on itself. Until you posted here I've seen no mention of the scrambled eggs that upgrading to 3.6.2 made out of Firefox 3.5.* bet it'll be popping up webwide!That is why I am asking so many questions. It might not be worth all the critical danger and related or other shenanigans just to get more fonts in our face. I thought we had plenty-o-fonts before WOFF. I have had a similar preblom, except all my browsers have been affected by it since installing FF 3.6.2 I can't understand why.I thought it might be my ISP, but they checked it out and the prebloms is not coming from them. So I started fooling around with IE8 and decided to make it my default browser again today, all of a sudden everything is working again on Firefox, pages are loading like before. No blank pages. So for now making your default browser Internet Explorer again may solve your preblom. I have tested this on three different computers so far and I got the same result, not sure if it will solve everyone else's page load prebloms.

For your own protection I wouldn't use 3.6 either, even though it may appear to operate well. It's the first version that supports WOFF, and that's where the security emergency lies. Go for 3.5.8 or 3.5.7 instead (installers still available at filehippo.com). These are not vulnerable to the WOFF danger.

That's just it, I can't! There are a plethora of new bserwors (may be old to some, hehe), and I guess I just feel innundated with choices. It's one thing to choose a video editing program (NLE):- premiere, After Effects, Combustion, Apple's (forget the name), Vegas VideoBut, you never really had a choice with web bserwors; it was IE and Netscape. You had a use for either one, not a choice. Now, suddendly you would think at least the carrot was no longer dangling over your head, and you could just use IE cause it was the only one there was; instead there are tons.If I knew wtf Firebird was, I could tell you. My point isn't that Firebird itself is odd, rather the emergence of more than 2 web bserwors.

This looks pretty instreeting. I've been using co.mments for about 4 or 5 months, and I find it indispensable. Being able to track all my comments in one place is much easer than email notification (when it's available). I liked it better than coComment, but that was mainly due to some bugs back when I tried both. I've heard that coComment has improved greatly.I've been asked the value of keeping track of your comments. To me, commenting is a form of marketing for your site, and tracking mailings is a key component of a campaign.
I've tried using feedly on FF 3.07 on my Mac and on my eee with 3rd party coiokes disabled, and it doesn't work (been working fine with them enabled). On my Mac, it explicitly complained about the coiokes, but on the eee, it just gave the default error message. Any ideas?

Granted, they pinged Technorati a LOT over a very short time and who knows what that means exactly but it sounds like there is at least some risk involved.

I started using Firefox iwihtn the last few months and the speed of the web page download response is amazing in comparison to Internet Explorer. I am able to modify the browsing experience with great add-ons, which improve my Internet surfing experience without slowing me down or crashing like Internet Explorer if I have multiple webpages download at the same time.Also to be able to shut down my computer and return a day later and restart firebox and restart my browsing where I left off previously at the same web pages that I was reading before, which is great. I now find myself with more time to do other things rather than sitting in front of the computer waiting for it to response and download or trying to find previous web pages that I have been to without much effort. I am now a fully fledge Firefox addict.Thanks for this amazing browser and keep improving it!!
I came across Mozilla just a year back. I eatrtsd it at work. And that very nice. I got superb results. I appreciate the security. If in case my pc is having problem n i need to restart it again, my data on Mozilla will never vanish. I can easily restore the data. The speed is very good and i can open so many tabs at same time. I have tried to open 60 tabs at a time.. Sounds stupid but done this.. It really works well..

Are you using the latest Firefox 7.0.x, as it rellay cleaned up Firefox memory usage. I use to have Firefox using 1.5 GB of RAM (out of my total 8 GB), but now it is down to less than .5 GB and that is with lots of tabs open and add-ons.

This plugin is cool. As you may know, Firefox inlcudes a similar feature that allows you to quickly and easily access your bookmarked websites directly from the address bar. For each bookmark in Firefox, you can specify a keyword. Putting this keyword into the address bar brings you to your bookmarked web page.

I've been using that userstyle since FF4 betas and have to tell you hnavig the stop/reload button on the wrong end of the address bar bugged the heck out of me!!! I'm fairly new to your blog and don't know if you've covered this but the creator of this userstyle also has an extension/addon that he developed that is worth checking out. Status-4-Evar. I have for a couple years now managed to show network status and link address in the address/url bar. The way I use it is to replace the website address with the network status or the link address for just a second or two or however long I mouse over a link. I don't have any popup for status or link info. This way all the info I want is at the top of the browser. Rarely ever do I open the addon/status bar.
Umm no, you can drag the individual tnobtus to the left side, put them side by side and then when you end your customization, the tnobtus will be unified automatically for themselves. My unified stop/reload button is on the left hand side, when done this way since FF4 came out

jonny: the problem with ffierox is mainly the windowish theme. I really don't understand why they replaced pinstripe. That's the main reason why I use the mozilla suite: pinstripe (which looks more mac-like than othte mozilla skins) is available.If you can live without some of the mozilla suite features, you are even better with Camino, which is a Gecko too.But the new fx theme causes eye cancer on the mac. I'm not arguing about windows and gtk but Fx on mac had a mature theme, which was dropped.Thunderbird is ok and way better than apple's Mail.app.

Well I'm a Mac user who is extremely iesrepsmd with Firefox on OS X.The interface is intutitive in more ways than Safari (i.e customizeable toolbar, I mean the print button alone why isn't that on Safari???).Cookie and password management is also superior.Where's the hard and ancedotal evidence that Mac users don't care about Firefox johnny storm ? I'd be interested in seeing it.And exactly how is it being stuffed up Mac user's noses???
Samual, one of the main reasons that Firefox on Mac is sinngattag is that Mac users aren't as active contributors as Windows/Linux users, and hence we don't have the QA resources to test things on Macintosh, or to fix bugs on Macintosh.In the components I QA, many of the Mac bugs are languishing because I can't QA them, and few people are stepping up to help out.

If you have the time, and are willing, there are some questions I would like to ask you about the code you have in the stylesheet. Normally I use px to represent font value size, but in your stylesheet this causes changes in the menu's dimensions. There are a few other issues, but the rest are questions. Basically I am only familiar with simple stylesheets, mostly to avoid browser compatability issues. So if you would care to help me understand your choices, it would allow me to take better advantage of your work. Right now I have two ltpmtaees in the works based upon your stylesheet. OK, seems I can't use html-tags here. Replace the regular bckearts here with the pointy ones :The problem is caused by get_link_list() adding [h2]-tags around the link-category names. A workaround is to remove the [h2] and [/h2] from line 504 in /wp-includes/list.php
I just wanted to make a quick post and thank erevybody for their nice comments about Bustle. It took a lot of effort to write and produce and it's very rewarding to hear your kind words. I also wanted erevybody to know that a new track, Changes', is in it's final stages of production and with luck, should be posted before Christmas. Changes' is a bit different from Bustle' in that it explores a little more traditional Alt. Rock feel as opposed to the darker goth-esq style that is dusted throughout Bustle'. Changes' is a flirty nostalgic song that I wrote for a cute girl about 6 years ago. She must of liked it because she's now my wife! I hope you'll dig it too. Ok, no more spoilers and keep checking the blog through December and thanks again!!!

Hmm, weird. Autofill worked great for me, atuohlgh I also don't use any other autofill plugins or anything. I prefer the toolbar spell checker by far over the Firefox plugin though. Especially since the spell check plugin doesn't seem to play nice with Firefox 1.5 beta. Oh well! Sorry it didn't work out for you! Just love to spread my geeky joy!

I don't have all of the links anymore, but some of the rangiiol incentive of Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox was to build up a reasonable, flexible baseline. The refactoring that should occur on Mozilla just wasn't happening. The rangiiol Phoenix documentation linked to the source code for a single CPP file and it was tens-of-thousands of lines long, simply because it was a one stop shop for all CSS/HTML hacks possible.I think the goal of Firefox is to make more progress by having a more efficient platform in the first place. If it takes 40 hours per feature for 10 features (400 hours) or 200 hours up front time and 10 hours per feature (300 hours) I'd take the second cost anyday.
